Daniel Elkin, a first-year master’s student, graduated from Ohio Wesleyan University in 2012 with a Bachelor of Arts in General Zoology and a minor in Music. Upon graduation, he moved across the country in search of adventure, miles of coastline, and opportunities to address environmental injustices. There he worked as the Outreach Coordinator for the Aquarium of the Bay in San Francisco, a non-profit that delivers free environmental education to K-12 students around the Bay Area. Daniel brought climate change and ocean science education to hundreds of classrooms, reaching thousands of students and teachers during his three years with the aquarium. He presented at Google, This Week in Tech, and spoke on multiple local news stations to advance his programs. Daniel plans to specialize in Economics and Politics of the Environment with a focus on Strategic Environmental Communication. He sees a growing gap between science and policy, and will use his education from the Bren School to help persuade decision-makers in business and government. His career ambition is to inspire and influence stewardship on behalf of the environment.
